Francis (Jake) L. Filippone of Prospect, passed away at the age of 92 on March 30, 2024. Francis was born September 5, 1931 to the late Anthony and Lena Filippone. He was the loving husband of the late Rita (Lamontagne) Filippone for 46 years.

Jake was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Waterbury State Technical College where he earned his associate degree in electrical engineering. While in high school, Jake was an outstanding athlete who was part of the 1949 State Basketball Championship team. After graduating high school, he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from the war, he married the love of his life, Rita and began working for SNET as an outside lineman, where he worked for 38 years and retired as an electrical engineer.

Nothing was more important to Jake than his family and his faith. He spent countless hours watching and supporting his children and grandchildren play sports. His most endearing qualities were his kindness and generosity to others. He looked after his grandchildren and he cherished the time he spent with them.

Jake leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Nancy Filippone, Joan (Steve) Alisi, Karen Marino, Gary (Sue) Filippone, Donald (Mary) Filippone, Raymond Filippone, Richard (Cherie) Filippone, Robert Filippone, and Mark (Amy) Filippone; his grandchildren: Laura, Nick, Andrew, Michelle, Nathan, Brandon, Amber, Austin, Jake, Conrad, and Peyten; his great-grandchildren: Owen, Luke, and Adam; his sister: Sister Claire Filippone and his sister in law Marie Kennedy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is predeceased by his brother Robert, sisters-in-law Theresa Filippone, Frankie Lamontagne, Gayle Lamontagne, brother in law Edward Lamontagne, and his son-in-law, Bob Marino.
Arrangements: Calling hours for Jake will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 4-7pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect, CT 06712. All are welcome at Prospect Memorial on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 9am with procession leaving at 9:30am to go to St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect, CT 06712, for a Mass of Christian Burial for 10am. A burial will be held following mass at Prospect Cemetery, 1 Union City Rd. Prospect, CT 06712 with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers www.t2t.org. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home is honored to care for the Filippone family and invites you to share your words of comfort for Francis and his family on his Tribute Wall at www.prospectmemorial.com.
