Obituary: Frank Anthony Mirto Jr. of Waterbury
A lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a fervent believer in the sainthood of Fr. McGivney & worked tirelessly for this cause.

Waterbury, CT - Mr. Frank Anthony Mirto Jr., A wonderfully dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away January 11, 2021 surrounded by his family to whom he meant the world.
He now rejoins his wife of 56 years, Elisa Mary (Vellucci) Mirto. Frank was born July 10, 1929 in Waterbury, the youngest son of the late Frank and Clorinda (SantaCroce) Mirto. He was full of life - dedicated to his faith and family in every way.

A member of the Civil Air Patrol before serving in the Army-Air Force. He was a proud veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He continued serving his country and fellow veterans through his work with the Army-Air Force Round Table as chairman up until his death. Frank worked as a tool and die maker for many years at the Scovill Manufacturing Company, the Oakville Pin, and retired from General Motors in 1991.
His life was vigorous in so many ways, he will live on in the hearts of his six daughters and two sons: Rosemary (Mirto) and Peter Atchison, Maria Mirto, Lisa (Mirto) and Paul Chartier, Carmel (Mirto) and Jeffrey Kell, Gene Mirto, Tina Mirto, Frank and Kerry Mirto, and David and Elizabeth Mirto. Franks grandchildren meant the world to him, they were his constant source of joy and “what kept him young”. Known as “Pop”, he leaves behind Mira and Kristina Chartier, Anthony, Daniel, and Michael Mirto all of Wolcott. Frank was preceased by his two brothers, Anthony & Ralph Mirto, and two sisters Virginia Amodio and Elizabeth Mirto.
Frank was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a fervent believer in the sainthood of Father McGivney and worked tirelessly for this cause.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church ~ Saints Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury, CT. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Chase Parkway Memorial / Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frank’s Memory to Carolyn’s Place 137 Grandview Avenue Waterbury, CT 06708, in honor of Fr. McGivney’s miracle of the unborn child that was cured of a disease in vitro.
