Obituary: Gloria (Rubano) Gubitosi, 75, of Southbury

Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

Gloria (Rubano) Gubitosi, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. She was the loving wife of John “Gregory” Gubitosi.

Born on September 25, 1946 in Waterbury, Gloria was the daughter of Philip and Rose (DeCarlo) Rubano. She was a graduate of Wolcott High School, class of 1964, University of CT, New York University, and Southern CT State University. Upon graduation, she became a Family and Consumer Science Teacher and taught for 38 years in the town of Wolcott. After retiring from teaching, Gloria served on the Wolcott Board of Education for 10 years.

She was known for her love of children, education and her exceptional cooking and pie making skills. She enjoyed trips to the casino with her friends Rosemarie and Debbie, her trips to Florida with Ann and Terri, and her morning walks with her neighbors John and Donna along with Joan. Her most enjoyable times were spent with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to Greg, her husband of 37 years, Gloria is survived by her sons Frank Brevetti, Sr. and his wife Adrienne of Watertown and Lt. Colonel John Gubitosi, Jr. of Texas; and the pride and joy of her life, her two grandchildren Olivia and Frankie, Jr. She also leaves her sister Lynda McWeeney of Waterbury as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gloria’s family sends special thanks to Rosemarie, Rosanne, and Lynda for helping her through her journey with delicious food and numerous card games. Additional thanks to their dear friend, whom they consider family, Kim Lumia. Lastly, her family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of River Glen in Southbury for all their hard work and compassion during their time of need.

Gloria’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10:30am at All Saints Episcopal Church, 282 Bound Line Rd, Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 5:00-8:00pm at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury.
