Obituary: Harold Taylor “Pete” Peterson, 91, of Naugatuck,

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Naugatuck – Harold Taylor “Pete” Peterson, age 91, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 30, 2024 at Beacon Brook Health Care Center in Naugatuck surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband for 66 years of Joan M. (Russett) Peterson.

Mr. Peterson was born August 11, 1933 in Waterbury son of the late Carl John and Laura (Taylor) Peterson. He retired after working as a Carpenter with the Carpenter’s Union Local #24 and with many local contractors. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Naugatuck where he volunteered many hours working at the church fair, taught Sunday School and bowled for many years in the church bowling league. He was a member of the Naugatuck Lodge of Elks #967, the Masonic Lodge #78, and was a former member of the Naugatuck Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary Naugatuck Police Officer. Pete loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, traveling with Joan and had a crazy sense of humor.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

In addition to his wife Joan, Mr. Peterson is survived by his son Dennis Peterson of Naugatuck and his daughter Donna Sagendorf of Naugatuck and his grandchildren Nicholas A. Sagendorf and his wife Carly and Sarah Ubaldi and her husband Andrew. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Peterson.

Mr. Peterson’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday November 14, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Prospect Community Funeral Home 72 Waterbury Road (Next to the Post Office) in Prospect. A celebration of Pete’s Life will be held immediately following at 6 p.m. Burial in Grove Cemetery in Naugatuck will be at the convenience of the family.
