Devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Naugatuck, CT - Irene Broderick, 89, widow of Michael J. Broderick Jr, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021.

Irene was born on January 12, 1932, in Naugatuck; the youngest of 9 children of Michael and Helen (Jarema) Janus and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. Irene retired from Uniroyal Chemical, where she worked as a lab technician. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered as a fabulous baker and cook, as well as a very gifted seamstress.

Irene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Theresa Broderick; her grandchildren, Danielle Joubert and her husband Daniel, Kathryn Broderick, Andrea Fisher and her husband Kyle, and Kyle Broderick; her great-granddaughter, Claire Joubert, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
