Obituary: Irene (Hardy) Burneakas, formerly of Waterbury

The family would like to thank everyone at Glendale Center in Naugatuck, and the nurses at VITAS in St. Mary's Hospital for the comfort.

“Beloved mother, grandmother & aunt”

Naugatuck, CT - Irene (Hardy) Burneakas, formerly of Waterbury, passed away on 12-30-2020 after a long illness with Alzheimer’s.

Irene was born July 20, 1934 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Thompson) Hardy. She graduated from Duggan Grammar School and Wilby High School. She worked at Timex and Bendix before retiring to spend most of her time doing the one thing that gave her so much happiness, being with her grandchildren, Marcus and Lauren. Irene took so much joy in taking part in their lives and watching them grow. Irene was an amazing mother and grandmother. Her family was blessed with her love and devotion.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Kathleen Tremaglio and husband David, and her beloved grandchildren Marcus and Lauren Tremaglio. She also leaves her nephews Brian, Ed, and Tom Hardy, as well as Patrick and Jack Owens and many loving friends.

Irene was predeceased by her son, John Burneakas, her brother Edward Hardy, sister-in-law Corinne (Baribault) Hardy, and cousin Patricia Owens.

The family would like to thank everyone at Glendale Center in Naugatuck, and the nurses at VITAS in St. Mary’s Hospital for the comfort and care they provided to Irene.

Arrangements: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, and per Irene’s request, services will be private. However, you may honor Irene with donations in her name to Brass City Rescue Alliance, 2 Service Rd., Middlebury, CT 06762. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway has been entrusted with he arrangements.
