Obituary: James B. Kobuta, 73 of Naugatuck

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Newport News.

James B. Kobuta, 73 of Naugatuck, passed away Saturday October 8, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He was the loving husband of April (Ball) Kobuta.

James was born August 16, 1949 in Irving, Scotland the son of the late Konstantyn and Stefania (Tysowski) Kobuta. He was a Postal Carrier for the United States Post Office retiring after many years of service. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Newport News. He was a member of the Polish American Club of Naugatuck, the American Legion Post 174 of Oxford and the VFW Post 1946 of Naugatuck. James was an avid golfer and pool player and a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck.

Besides his wife he leaves his daughters, Anne Neumann of Woodbury and Beth Roy and her husband William of Monroe, his step children, Todd Brennan of Watertown, Lorraine Falero of Torrington, Stephanie Ramirez of Meriden and John Polakowski of Naugatuck, two granddaughters, two grandsons and eleven step grandchildren.

Funeral services for James will be held on Friday at 10:15 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck201 Meadow St. to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Derby. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 6:45 p.m.
