Obituary: Jan Xavier Mizeski, 86, of Naugatuck

He retired from Peter Paul Schweppes Co. and was employed at Buckmiller Funeral Home and Naugatuck Valley Memorial Funeral Home.

UNION CITY – Jan Xavier Mizeski, 86, died peacefully Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Glendale Center in Naugatuck. He was the widower of Harmony Hope (Holley) Mizeski.

Jan was born in Union City Dec. 7, 1936, son of the late Julian P. and Anna (Natowich) Mizeski. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, class of 1955, and a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Peter Paul Schweppes Co. where he worked as a truck driver. He was also employed at Buckmiller Funeral Home and Naugatuck Valley Memorial Funeral Home.

Jan was a lifelong member of the Naugatuck Elks Club, enjoyed fishing and ice fishing and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was also an animal lover, and his Basset Hounds were his favorites.

Jan is survived by his son, Jan J. Mizeski, a daughter, Teri Mizeski, and daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and David Frennesson, all of Naugatuck; sisters Sandra Gumprecht and Gail Kozlowski; grandchildren Ashley and Lauren Mizeski, and Maria and Robert Frennesson; great- grandchildren, Emerson and Martin Devine; and several cousins , nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the start of services.
