Joan Mary Burns

April 19, 1960 ~ December 22, 2021 (age 61)

Joan Mary Burns, 61, of Naugatuck passed away unexpectedly at home on December 22, 2021. Joan was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on April 19, 1960, daughter of the late Robert J. and Jeanne C. Burns, and was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck. Joan attended local schools, graduating from Naugatuck High School in 1978.

Joan is survived by her son James Bennett of Boston, Massachusetts, her brother Robert Burns of Cape Neddick, Maine, her sister Cathy Perkins and her husband Rick Perkins of Naugatuck, her sister Jeanne Burns of Cape Neddick, Maine, and her brother Jim Burns of Burlington, Vermont and his wife Kristin Burns. She is also survived by their children Jeff Perkins (spouse Kristen Perkins), Matt Perkins (spouse Kyla Boyce), Nora Burns, Caroline Burns and Emma Burns, and great nieces and nephews). Joan is survived by numerous cousins, and always spoke fondly of the memories of large family events while growing up together. Joan loved and cared for many feline housemates over the years, and loved music and knitting.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her long-time partner James “Benjy Michaels” Bennett.
