“Lifelong Waterbury Resident”

Waterbury, CT John Francis Carey, 80, husband of the late Elizabeth G. “Betty” (Bilbow) Carey for 52 years, died unexpectedly April 30, 2022 at his home.

John was born February 28, 1942 in Waterbury, CT son of the late Michael and Helen R. Carey and had lived in Waterbury all of his life. John was a proud US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and he was a retired employee of Whyco Chromium Company in Thomaston.

John is survived by his son, John Michael Carey; his granddaughter, Samantha LaRose, USMC and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, John was predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Carey and his brother, Michael Carey.

A graveside service with military honors accorded will be Monday at 1:00pm at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please meet directly at the cemetery. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
