NAUGATUCK, CT - Mr. Jose M. Braz, 79, formerly of Prospect, entered into the gates of heaven on Monday, January 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Florinda (Piadade) Braz who passed away in 2011.

Jose was born in Aljustrel, Portugal on November 18, 1941, a son of the late Pedro & Maria (Reis) Braz. Jose and his wife, Florinda, married in Portugal and moved to Waterbury area in 1972. He worked for various manufacturing companies including Scovill, Risdon and Teleflex, Inc. before retiring in 1999. Jose enjoyed the outdoors and was avid sportsman, he liked fishing on the weekends, hunting, gardening, reading his paper and making homemade wine. But loved the time he spent with his family, friends and his three loving grandchildren. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the Waterbury Portuguese Sport Club Inc.

Jose leaves his daughter, Suzette Braz Loureiro and her husband, Helder, of Naugatuck, with whom Jose resided with, three grandchildren, Katelynn, Julia and Mason, and was soon to be a great grandfather, his brother Proferio Braz of Lisbon, Portugal and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Antonio Braz of Portugal.


Arrangements: A graveside service will be held Friday, January 15, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery, 203 Spring Lake Road, Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the cemetery. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury has been entrusted with handling Jose’s arrangements.
