Jose Manuel Fernandes Miranda, 71, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Carmen (Rosado) Miranda of 48 years.

Jose was born on November 12, 1949 in Lixa, Portugal, son of the late Albano and Maria DeJesus (Fernandes) Miranda. He was raised and educated in Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Portugal and at the age of 17 he came to the United States and became a citizen. Before his retirement, Jose worked as an auxiliary police officer for the Naugatuck Police Department and he retired as a construction worker and vice president for the Local Union #390. He was a long time resident of Naugatuck and enjoyed hanging out at Dunkin Donuts with his friends.

Besides his wife, Jose leaves his children, Linda Miranda and her companion, Brice Harrison, Michelle Nunez and her husband, Osman, grandchildren, Markus Miranda and his companion, Mercedes Westberg, Geovanny Mayorga, Elaina Nunez, Amaya Miranda, great granddaughter, Mia Miranda, brother, Antonio Miranda and his wife, Fernanda, sister, Olympia Miranda DaSilva and her husband, Francisco and several nieces, nephews and his Dunkin Donuts crew. He was predeceased by his brother, Amandio Miranda and sister, Maria Dulce Miranda Desousa.

Arrangements: Jose’s funeral will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT to St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
