Obituary: Joseph Charles Harper, Jr., 62, of Naugatuck

Naugatuck, CT - Joseph Charles Harper, Jr., 62, died unexpectedly on December 10, 2022 at his home.

Joseph was born September 19, 1960 in Waterbury, CT son of Maryann Clute and the late Joseph Charles Harper, Sr. Joe was raised in Naugatuck, graduated from Naugatuck High School and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Joe began working for LoRusso Construction and worked with various companies throughout his career as a heavy equipment operator. Joe loved the outdoors, fishing and riding his motorcycle, but most of all he loved spending time with his granddaughters.

In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his daughter, Brittany DeSousa (Marco); his son, Joseph Charles Harper, III (Sara); his granddaughters, Melina DeSousa and Mariana DeSousa; his brothers, Jeffrey Harper and Brian Harper (Heather) and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, Joe was predeceased by his brother, Samuel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Thursday from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
