Waterbury, CT - Joseph Guido Mazzetti, 93, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marie (DiVito) Mazzetti for 69 years, whom he met when they both worked at Jones Morgan.
Joseph was born in Waterbury, CT on April 5, 1927, a son of the late Nazzerano and Nancy (DiStiso) Mazzetti. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, stationed in Japan. Shortly after his discharge, he attended Post College and earned his degree in Cost Accounting. Before his retirement, Joseph worked as a cost estimator for Anaconda American Brass / B.P for 30 years.

Joseph or Joey, as his nieces, Donna, Ursula and Jan loved to call him, had many interests and hobbies. He loved to entertain with his wife, preparing gourmet meals for friends and family. He was an avid reader and loved to share thoughts about books that he and his grandson, Christopher, would read and exchange. Everyone loved his gentle nature and sense of humor. He was a great joke teller and always loved to share the latest funny story with friends and family. He was a self-taught artist and an excellent baker, making bread and pizza and also prepared gourmet meals for his family on holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. He loved to paint holiday scenes on eggs and ornaments that he shared with family and friends. He custom painted glass ornaments for brides to be. He was an opera lover for most of his life, enjoying his favorite artists, Maria Callas and Luciano Pavoratti, whose music he had and extensive collection. Joe also enjoyed travelling with his wife and some of their trips were to Hawaii, Italy, The French Riviera and Bermuda.
Besides his wife, Marie, Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, William J. Mazzetti and his wife, Rosanne, of Waterbury, Sharon Marie Gugliotti and her husband, Anthony N., of Waterbury, grandsons, Michael J. Mazzetti and his wife, Kimberly, of Waterbury, Christopher M. Gugliotti, who is currently in Medical School in Sint Maarten, great grandson, Angel Mazzetti, sisters-in-laws, Gloria DiVito and Tara Mazzetti as well as many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and loved to spend time with. He was predeceased by his brother, Armand Mazzetti and sisters, Pearl Petrarca, Rose Rossi and Anna Cretella.
In addition, he leaves behind close family friends, Maria and Donald Desaulniers, their children, Adam and Amanda and also Ed Soucy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony and Dr. Caporasso for Joe’s health care throughout the years.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St., Waterbury, CT on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with Joseph’s arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joseph’s name may be made to: St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
