"Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother"

Josephine M. (Davino) Pinto, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Horace R. Pinto.


Josephine was born on November 3, 1924 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Frank and Maria Grazia (Cocchiola) Davino. She was a graduate of Wilby High School. Her career started as an office manager at Caldor Department Store for many years and later as an office manager for Lighting Services until her retirement. She was a longtime communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Jo was very patriotic and supportive of Veterans. She was a member of the Wolcott VFW Post 1979’s Ladies Auxiliary.

Quick-witted with a nice smile, Jo was a kind lady with a great sense of humor. She was a caregiver to her family and was a sincere friend to many. She enjoyed traveling, especially on her annual trip to Florida with her daughter. Jo was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her famous eggplant parmesan and her delicious lemon squares. Most of all, Jo was an incredible homemaker and completely devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her family.


Jo is survived by her children, Richard Pinto of Ridgefield, Nancy Chenkus and her husband Steve Murtha of Wethersfield and Sandra Pinto and her husband John Sobczyk of Portland. She also leaves her granddaughter Stephanie Fragola and her husband Peter of Guilford, her great-grandsons, Jackson and Oliver Fragola as well as her sister, Marie Belletsky of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. In addition to Horace, her husband of 62 years, Jo was predeceased by her brother Raymond Davino and her sisters, Teresa Roberts and Carmella Davino.
