Joshua R. Szantyr, 37, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital.

Joshua was born in Waterbury on December 19, 1985, the son of the late Faylene E. (Mathieu) Szantyr. He was a graduate of Crosby High School. Joshua served his country in the U.S. Marines Corps. He worked as a machine operator for various manufacturers throughout the Waterbury area. Joshua enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, hiking and fishing. He was an avid Boston Celtics fan.
He leaves his three brothers, David Szantyr and Erik Szantyr both of Waterbury, and Seth Szantyr and his wife, Melissa, of Waterbury, his loving nephews, Aaron and Elijah Szantyr and nieces, Kiera, Victoria and Faylene Szantyr, also his girl friend, Allysha Connolly and her son, Jack.

Arrangements: Funeral will be held 9:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery, Prospect. Calling hours will be held Friday evening, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
