PROSPECT,CT - Joyce E. Chapman, 79, of Prospect passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Apple Rehab in Watertown. She was the widow of Harold W. Chapman, Jr.. She was born November 18, 1941 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Larson) Atwell.

Joyce was a graduate of Wilby High School Class of 1959. She devoted her life to raising her family. Joyce was a wonderful, caring and giving person. She enjoyed the ocean, going to the Prospect Senior Center and traveling. Joyce and her husband, Harold, loved traveling in their motor home. They visited every state in the United States except Alaska, her daughters have many fond memories of camping as a family when they were kids. In her younger days, Joyce enjoyed music, dancing and skating. She always had a passion for animals. Joyce especially loved spending time her family. She was a truly wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who had knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her love and memory her daughters: Karen (Jeffrey) Strumski, Dorothy Soden (Gamelier Garcia) and Corine Lindsey, 5 grandchildren; David (Emily), Trisha (Joseph), Mark, Melissa and Jessica, and 2 greatgrandchildren: Nathaniel and Ezra. She also leaves her sister Doris Rae (Steven) Anderson, nieces and nephews: Lynn (William), Steven (Caitlin), Liam and Aria.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Harold W. Chapman, Jr. and grandson Raymond Soden.

All services are private due to the Covid pandemic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s name to the Stray Animal Fund, at Prospect Veterinary Hospital, 93 Waterbury Rd. Prospect CT 06712.
