WATERBURY, CT - Katherine (Konstant) Harlamon, 100, of Waterbury, was reunited in heaven with her husband on Monday, March 1, 2021, in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Mayor George P. Harlamon.

Katherine was born in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of the late James and Athena (Voulgaris) Konstant. The family then moved to Bel Air, MD, where she graduated from Bel Air High School and continued her education, graduating from Strayer, Bryant and Strathmore Business School in Baltimore, MD. After graduation, Katherine accepted a position at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Working for the signal corps during World War II, she was placed in charge of the Teletype Office on the army base. After the war, she met George and they were married in 1947, and she moved to his home town, Waterbury, CT.
Katherine was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Maple Street and served as Vice President of the Ladies of and Philoptochos Society and was director and treasurer, as well as a teacher for Sunday School for five years before the church moved to its present address on Chase Parkway. She volunteered at the 1st Greek Festival and continued to do so for many years and served as chairman for two years. She was pleased to see it become so successful, and is now an annual event for the church on Mother’s Day Weekend. In 2013, she was honored for her fifty-year service in the Philoptochos Society. Katherine also volunteered at the Y.W.C.A., Waterbury Hospital, and enjoyed working for a doctor of neurology for twelve years.

Her happiest times were with her beloved husband George, and all of the family together. Katherine considered the loves of her life her two sons, Peter and Jay, her daughter-in-law, her grandchildren, and great grandchild. She considered each of her family members, and her dear friends as a gift, and they all made her very happy to be with.
Katherine leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons, James “Jay” Harlamon of Watertown, and Peter Harlamon and his wife Saranya of Thailand, her grandson, George P. Harlamon II and his wife Jessica of Waterbury, and a granddaughter, Katherine Harlamon of Thailand. She also leaves behind her great grandson, James David Harlamon, and her brother, Gus Konstant of Aberdeen, MD, as well as many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Konstant and her sister, Joanne Geer.
Arrangements: A traditional Greek Orthodox Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021, 10:00 a.m., at the Holy Trintiy Greek Orthodox Church in Waterbury. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. There will be no calling hours. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Katherine’s funeral arrangements.
