“Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother”

Kyriacou “Katie” (Georgiou) Vassiliou, 89, of Waterbury, was reunited with her husband in heaven on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. She was the loving wife of the late Georgios “George” Vassiliou.

Katie was born in Vatili, Cyprus, on May 5, 1932, daughter of the late Georgious and Petrou (Prodomou) Georgiou. Katie loved making things with her own hands whether it was sewing, knitting, or crocheting. Her delicious homemade meals would be enjoyed by everyone, and Katie was always certain to make sure everyone was fed. Being an avid card player, Katie loved playing with friends, family, as well as taking trips to the casino. Above everything else, Katie adored her family dearly.

Katie leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons, Petros “Peter” Vassiliou and his wife Lena of Waterbury, Vasos “Bill” Vassiliou and his wife Carmela of Waterbury, son-in-law, Dimitris Ioannou of Waterbury, as well as her ten grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, Stella, Stephanie, George, Alex, Allie, Ashley, Michele, Jade, and her four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Eleni Ioannou and her three siblings.

Arrangements: A traditional Greek Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Waterbury. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
