Lena was born in Waterbury on September 21, 1931, daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Carosella) Mancini. For several years, Lena worked at Colonial Vending as well as WT Grants, but most importantly proudly raised her family belong side her husband and was a devoted Nonni, Mom and Wife. She also worked as a lunch aid at Wendell Cross Grammar School and twenty-five years for the Republican American as a carrier. Lena was a die-hard Boston Red Sox Fan, and enjoyed watching Steve Harvey every night on the television. She was a strong woman of faith, a devoted parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, and she faithfully prayed the rosary every day. When Lena finished her newspaper deliveries in the early morning hours she faithfully would stop at the Portuguese Bakery to pick up Portuguese rolls and drop them off at WATR where she was affectionately know as the “Portuguese Roll Lady”.
Lena leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Debra Dumaine and her husband Richard of Thomaston, CT, a brother-in-law, Paul Evon and his wife Linda of Oakville, four sisters in laws, Patricia Evon of Oakville, Nicolina Evon of Waterbury, Joyce Evon of Naugatuck and Lois Honyotski of Waterbury, and her four grandchildren that she loved and adored, Michael Evon, Joseph Evon, Christopher Savage and his wife Jessica, and Nicholas Savage. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two of her children, Arnold J. Evon Jr. (2014), Mary Evon (2021), and her two brothers, Anthony Mancini Jr. and William Mancini.
