Obituary: Lorna "Jean" (Prindle) Skoczylas, 94, of Torrington

Lorna “Jean” (Prindle) Skoczylas, 94, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, with her caregivers , Paul and Debbie Ferry, at her side. She was the wife of the late Edward Skoczylas.

Jean was born August 21, 1928, in Goshen, CT, the daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle (Robinson) Prindle. She was employed by Northeast Utilities as a Supervisor until her retirement.

She was a member of Center Congregational Church where she also served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. In addition to volunteering at the church office, she was known for her baked goods and knitted treasures made for every church event. Jean was also a longtime member of the Torrington Country Club, where she made lifelong friends and participated in the Ladies’ Club Championships. She enjoyed taking her family to TCC for dinners and to celebrate the Christmas season for many years.

She is survived by one stepson, Edward Skoczylas of PA; two stepdaughters, Joan Heim of Bristol, CT, Jane Malena of CA; one sister, Eunice Leone of West Hartford, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Center Congregational Church, 155 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday between 10:00 and 11:00. The burial will be private.
