Obituary: Lorraine F. Clifford, 97, of Naugatuck

She was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in Naugatuck where she also sang in the choir. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines

Lorraine F. Clifford, age 97, went home to the Lord, peacefully in the presence of her family on Sunday Dec. 18, 2022. She was the widow of Jeremiah F. Clifford.

Lorraine was born on May 28, 1925 in Derby, CT. She was the daughter of the late John and Marion Sharkey. She attended Ansonia schools where she met and later married Jerry, her beloved husband of 64 years. She was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in Naugatuck where she also sang in the choir. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Witness Singing Group. A devout Catholic, Lorraine watched daily Mass on TV and was devoted to the Divine Mercy Chaplet and rosary. Over the years, Lorraine had worked at several places and retired from the State of CT as head clerk in the Derby courthouse. She was an avid fan of the UCONN Women's Basketball team where she never missed a game on TV.

Her most precious time was spent with her family. She is survived by her family; Deacon Thomas Clifford (Linda) of Naugatuck, Gary Clifford (Diana) of Arizona, and Lisa Stumpo (David) of Naugatuck; her grandchildren: Michelle, Heather, Jason, Nicole, Chelsea, and Rachel and great grandchildren: Alyssa, Alex, Ethan, Brianna, Ava, Meadow, Reese, Jasper, and Olivia.
She is survived by her sister Mary Olofson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her brother John Sharkey and grandchildren Thomas, Theresa, Michael, and Christopher Clifford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 28th at 10 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. Naugatuck. Those attending the Mass are asked to meet at the Church at 9:45 am. Burial will follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Seymour. Calling hours will be on Tuesday December 27th from 4-7 pm at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/ Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.
