Luigina (Pilla) Capozzi, age 86, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Michele Capozzi.
Luigina was born on in Santa Croce, del Sannio, Italy, April 12, 1936, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppina (Sacomanno) Pilla. Before her retirement, Luigina worked as an inspector for Waterbury Buckle for 35 years. She could often be found tending to her garden which produced beautiful vegetables that she would use to prepare delicious meals for her family. She was an amazing cook and it brought her joy to have her family over to eat. Being a devout catholic, Luigina was a longtime parishioner of St. Lucy’s Church in Waterbury. Throughout her life, Luigina had many wonderful friends that she was able to share countless memories with. Above everything else, family meant everything to Luigina with her grandchildren and great grandchildren being her greatest joys in life.

Luigina leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Lino Capozzi and his wife, Mayda of Bethlehem, CT, her beloved grandchildren whom she adored, Daniella Capozzi of Waterbury, Lino Capozzi, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Capozzi and his wife, Anet of Middlebury, CT, her three great grandchildren, Steven, Sienna and Kaia Osnato, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Domenico Pilla, Maria Capozzi, Antonietta Pilla Columbo and Fernanda Prozzo.
Luigina’s family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff of River Glen Health Care in Southbury for all of the wonderful care that they showed to her during her time there.
Arrangements: Luigina’s funeral will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, 9:15 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Queen of Peace Mausoleum. A calling hour will be held on Thursday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
