Beloved Aunt

Margaret “Peg” (Benevento) Donnelly, age 103, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene Donnelly.


Born on August 25, 1919 in Waterbury, Margaret was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Tata) Benevento. She was a graduate of Wilby High School and enjoyed 25 years of working as a bookkeeper at the former Worth’s Department Store in Waterbury. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church as well as of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Margaret was quite the cook and phenomenal baker who loved nothing more than cooking and sharing food with her family.

Margaret leaves behind several nieces and nephews, but was especially close to her nephews, Nick Ieronimo and John Ieronimo whom she regarded as her sons as well as her two special nieces, Pat Mead and Linda Storms. In addition to her beloved husband Eugene, Margaret was predeceased by her brothers Albert Benevento, John Benevento, and Henry Benevento and her sister Sylvia Ieronimo.


Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 9:30 - 11:00am at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury with a prayer service beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Memorial contributions in Margaret’s name may be made to: All Saints Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 S.
