Obituary: Maria Palmira Maneca, 99, Of Naugatuck

Maria Palmira Maneca, 99, widow of Antonio Maneca, died peacefully on April 17, 2023 at Complete Care at Glendale Center with loving family by her side.

Maria was born January 18, 1924 in Montalegre, Portugal a daughter of the late Manuel and Rosa Rua Pedreira and had lived in Naugatuck for over 80 years. She retired from the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. where she had worked for 45 years and she was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Maria is survived by her loving son, John R. Maneca of Naugatuck; her brother, Adriano Pedreira of Portugal and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Maria was predeceased by her six brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Ladyof Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
