Born in Waterbury on January 21, 1954, Mark was the son of the late Ellsworth and Jane (Whitecage) Serafine. Mark was a graduate of Wilby High School’s Class of 1973 and worked for the Town of Wolcott, as the head custodian of Frisbee School for many years. He also worked for his family’s business Schmidt’s and Serafine’s hardware store in Waterbury.
Mark was known for his exceptional sense of humor. He was the Master of Ceremonies for many local events and parties. Naturally funny and easy going, Mark loved people and fit in with every crowd regardless of where he went. No person was a stranger once they met Mark. Generous with his time and money, he always went the extra mile with thoughtful gifts and gestures. Mark was exuberant, upbeat, and always positive. He made life fun for all who were around him. His glass was always full, and on his daily happiness scale of one to ten, he was always a “12”.
