Devoted Husband and Father
Michael Alexander Smolley, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 9, 2021. He was the husband of Joanne (Ingala) Smolley.

Mike was born on August 30, 1954 in Waterbury, son of Anne (Vaccarelli) Smolley and the late Alexander Smolley. He was a graduate of Wolcott High School and a Wolcott resident for more than 50 years. Mike was employed as a toolmaker at Anchor Fasteners, Highland Manufacturing and Draher Machine for move than 30 years. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He was a huge supporter of the Holy Cross High School football and baseball teams and volunteered at the Wolcott BAW for many years. He enjoyed traveling to Bermuda and Rhode Island on family vacations. He loved nothing more than to be with his family and would do anything for them.
In addition to Joanne, his devoted wife of 42 years, Mike is survived by his son Matthew Smolley and his wife Alicia of Prospect; his beloved grandchildren Olivia Smolley and Cameron Smolley of Prospect and brothers James Smolley and Mark Smolley, both of Wolcott. He also leaves his uncle Joseph Vaccarelli of Wolcott; his aunts Lucy Smolley of Santa Maria, CA and Annette Creto of Waterbury and his brother-in-law Robert Ingala of Wolcott as well as several generations of nieces and nephews, many cousins and close family friends.

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, and he will be dearly missed.
Mike’s family would like to thank the Hospice nurses and aids who helped care for him during his illness for their outstanding and compassionate care shown to him.
A funeral Mass to honor and celebrate Michael’s life will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 W. Main St., Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Maiorano Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
