Obituary: Michael Butkevich, 94, of Oakville

A lifelong resident of Oakville, he served in the Navy during WW II. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

OAKVILLE - Michael Butkevich, 94, of Oakville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anna (Tomkiewicz) Butkevich.

Mike was born in Oakville, November 18, 1926, son of the late John and Anna (Butkevich) Butkevich. A lifelong resident of Oakville, he served in the Navy during WW II. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waterbury.
Mike was devoted to his family and often helped his neighbors and church family. He was a true "handyman" and a member of the Retirees Club of United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mike leaves his son, Michael Butkevich Jr. of Waterbury; a daughter, Nancy Butkevich of Vanavara, Russia; a grandson, Michael Butkevich III; a granddaughter, Shelly Gray and her husband Josh, and their son Logan; a brother, Peter of Thomaston; two sisters, Frances of Middlebury, and Helen of Wolcott; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mike was predeceased by his sisters, Olga and Mary.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery is private. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown.
