Obituary: Michael A. Carpentieri, 87, of Waterbury

Mr. Michael A. Carpentieri, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 3, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Jachowski) Carpentieri to whom he was married for 58 years.

Born on August 3, 1936, in Waterbury, Michael was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Bredice) Carpentieri, Sr. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School, Class of 1954 and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. He worked as a mechanic and an independent truck driver.

An advocate of gun safety, Mike was a member of the NRA and of the High Rock Shooting Association where he taught gun safety to the Junior Rifle Team. He coached for the Wolcott Sandy Koufax league for many years. He was incredibly mechanically inclined and enjoyed tinkering with cars and everything around the house. Devoted to his family, Mike loved to be social and loved a good meal.

Mike is survived by his son Michael A. Carpentieri, III and his wife Patricia; his daughter Nancy Bushka and her husband Richard; his beloved grandchildren Matthew Carpentieri and his wife Kayla, Christopher Carpentieri and his wife Nikki, and Tiffany Bushka; and his great-grandson Christopher Michael Carpentieri. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury from 10:30am-12:00pm with a service beginning at 12:00pm.
