Naugatuck - Michael Gallant Sr., 67, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marcia (Westmoreland) Gallant.


Mr. Gallant was born June 18, 1956, in Bridgeport, the son of the late Phillip and Victoria (Urbano) Gallant Sr. He was employed by the Stratford Board of Education, retiring in 2009 after 25 years. During his time with the Board of Education, he served as Union President. He enjoyed golfing and playing pool on his Wednesday night league. He could be found every day at the same time in the local watering hole, sitting in the same chair coming up with his well-known one-line zingers as they came to call them, that would get everyone laughing. His antics were well known as well and sometimes took months to figure out it was him. He loved his family and friends and helped them whenever he could, he was a sweet and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Mr. Gallant is survived by his daughter Kimberly Gallant; his son Michael Gallant Jr.; his brothers Ronald Gallant Sr. (Jan), and Donnie Gallant Sr. (Debra); his grandson Phillip M. Gallant, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Phillip.


Arrangements – Visitation for Mr. Gallant will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Naugatuck Animal Control, made payable to the Borough of Naugatuck, indicating “Animal Control” in the memo portion, 211 Spring St. Organizations he supported regularly.
