Obituary: Michelle Schafer, 54, Of Naugatuck
Michelle lived in Naugatuck for the past 30 years and was a pillar of the community, organizing charities for animals and families in need.

Michelle Schafer, 54, wife of Pat Schafer, died unexpectedly on April 3, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Michelle was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 21, 1970 and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 30 years. Michelle was 100% selfless and accepting of everyone in a completely non-judgmental way. Besides being the center of her family’s world, she was also a pillar of the community having organized charities ranging from animals to families struggling in anyway. Michelle was honored to have received the Most Influential Woman Award from the Boy Scouts of America in June of 2022.

In addition to Pat, her husband of 11 years, best friends for 30, Michelle is survived by her children; Melissa Nichuals, Jennah Pelkey (Robert), Andrew Schafer (Destany), Zach Schafer; her grandchildren, Damian, Mason, Aleyah, Alana, Silas, Maverick, Cain and Scarlett; her mother in law; Barbara Schafer; her sisters, Kathleen Irish, Dee Green (Ali) and Loni Pellegrino; nieces and nephews including Santanna, Rocky, Marcus and several other nieces and nephews; her fur babies; Kaida and Lulabell.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Michelle’s life on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Naugatuck Elks Lodge, 758 Rubber Avenue, Naugatuck, CT. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
