Obituary: Mrs. Barbara (Mackey) DiVito, 99, of Watertown

A Watertown Resident since 1951, she worked at Scovill Mfg. Co., and then Guggenheim Metals in Middlebury prior to her retirement.

WATERTOWN - Mrs. Barbara (Mackey) DiVito, 99, of Watertown, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Apple Rehab. She was the widow of Joseph C. DiVito.

Mrs. DiVito was born in Waterbury, September 14, 1921, daughter of the late Charles and Marguerite (Doherty) Mackey. She was raised in Waterbury and was a graduate of St. Margaret's School and Waterbury Catholic High School. A Watertown Resident since 1951, she worked at Scovill Mfg. Co., and then Guggenheim Metals in Middlebury prior to her retirement. She was a faithful communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Mrs. DiVito enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her family was the light that gave her endless joy and her faith was the rock that sustained her.

Mrs. DiVito is survived by her son, Paul DiVito of Waterbury; her daughter, Carol Franson and her husband, Keith, of Oakville; and several nieces and nephews that adored her. She was dearly loved by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the exemplary staff of Apple Rehab of Watertown, especially, Sabina, Amanda, Diane, Fatima, Trish, Louisa, and Alesha, and Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St. Masks are required and social distance seating will be observed. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery is private. There are no calling hours. The Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., is assisting the family with the arrangements.
