Longtime Teacher at St. Anne’s School
WATERBURY- Mrs. Gilberte “Jill” (Long) Michaud, 90 of Waterbury, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was the wife of the late Lucien A. Michaud.
Mrs. Michaud was born January 18, 1930 in Clair, New Brunswick Canada the daughter of the late Alphonse and Anita (Albert) Lang. She graduated from Teachers College in Canada and in 1952 she and her husband moved to the United States.

Mrs. Michaud taught at St. Anne’s School for 27 years retiring in 1986 where as a teacher her love for her children shone in her insistence that each child perform to the best of his or her ability. She was also a longtime communicant of the parish.
Mrs. Michaud became one of the first women in the area to become a General Contractor where she built numerous houses and condominium complexes. Her main focus was her family and pets and her weekly trips to the Avenue Hair Works where she had her hair done and spending time with Monica and Sue.
She is survived by her 2 children, her daughter Mona Palomba and her husband Fred of Waterbury and her son, Andre Michaud, Jr. and his wife Carol of Waterbury, 4 grandchildren, Andre Michaud III, Bryan Michaud and his wife Christina, Justin Michaud and Katherine Michaud. Also 2 great granddaughters, Sofia and Maia, her brother, Real Lang of Canada and her sister, Jacqueline Lang of Canada, her brother in law, Richard Croteau and his daughters, Renee and Monique and their families, her sister in law, Cindy Long and her daughters, Debora and Geraldine. Mrs. Michaud was predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church (All Saints Parish), 515 South Main Street in Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. All are asked to wear a mask and please practice social distancing while in church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
