Obituary: Mrs. Gloria (D’Agostino) Vaccarelli, 87, of Waterbury
She was a familiar face there for over ten years and later worked as an assembler for DataComm, from where she retired after 15 years.

Mrs. Gloria (D’Agostino) Vaccarelli, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 31, 2021 in the VITAS Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Born in Waterbury on May 24, 1934, Gloria was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Lucia (Bartoli) D’Agostino. After raising her family, Gloria went to work for Miller & Peck in downtown Waterbury. She was a familiar face there for over ten years and later worked as an assembler for DataComm, from where she retired after 15 years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church and of St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and loved to cook and bake for everyone. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and was happiest when with her family.

Gloria is survived by her son Peter Vaccarelli, Jr. and his wife Maria of Prospect; her daughter Carol Vitone of Wolcott and her partner Thomas Switz of Waterbury; her grandsons Stephen Vitone of Waterbury and Anthony Vitone of Neeses, SC and her step granddaughter Michelle Borges and her husband Edgar of Prospect. She also leaves her two great-grandchildren Bryce and Maya, her brother Anthony “Babe” D’Agostino, and her former husband Peter Vaccarelli as well as many nieces and nephews her nephew George D’Agostino and his wife Elisa and her niece Lucille Voland to whom she was especially close. She was predeceased by her brothers John D’Agostino, Nicholas D’Agostino, and Robert D’Agostino and her sister Grace Finateri.
Gloria’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff in the VITAS wing at Saint Mary’s Hospital for their compassionate and excellent care shown to Gloria and the family during her time there.

Gloria’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 9:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., to St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect for a Mass at 11:00am. Family and friends may visit with the family from 9:00-10:30am on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
