Norma (Selim) Perugini, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Hartford Hospital on Sunday, January 8, 2023. She was the wife of the late Angelo “Charlie” Perugini.

Born in North Grosvenordale, CT on April 13, 1941, Norma was the daughter of the late Ali and Azize (Kaja) Selim. She was a graduate of Prospect Heights High School in Brooklyn, NY before returning to Connecticut and settling in Waterbury. In her early years, Norma worked for Bozzuto’s, Inc. Once she was married and began her family, Norma stayed home and raised her family. Once her children were older, she returned to the workforce and worked for Dermatology Associates of Waterbury, Carby Corporation in Watertown and retired as a loan officer from Naugatuck Savings Bank in 2003. A classy, feisty, loving lady, Norma loved spending time with her family and friends. Some of her happiest times were family vacations and cruises to exciting places such as the Caribbean islands as well as many trips to the casino. Norma had an amazing group of lifelong girlfriends, and she looked forward to their monthly card nights. She loved music by Neil Diamond and Bon Jovi.
Norma is survived by her daughters Lynn Hatfield and her husband Ed of Wolcott, Tracy Perugini of Rocky Hill, and Carol Grinvalsky and her husband Jim of Torrington; her daughter-in-law Cynthia Perugini of Torrington; her grandchildren Eric Grinvalsky, David Grinvalsky and his wife Debbie, Brooke Shanks and her husband Mark, Michelle Palance and her husband Nick and Lauren Polzella and her fiancé Michael Audibert. She also leaves her great-grandchildren Edward Grinvalsky, Cadence Shanks, Kaitlyn Grinvalsky, Jocelyn Shanks, and Charlee Ann Palance as well as her sisters Eva Panariti of New Britain and Pashako “Patty” Karameta and her husband Jimmy of Naugatuck; her sister-in-law Jean Selim of Waterbury; several nieces and nephews and her beloved companion Richard Sullivan. In addition to Charlie, her beloved husband of 40 years, Norma was predeceased by her son Salvatore L. Perugini who predeceased her by five days on January 3, 2023, her brothers Fezi Selim and David Selim and her sisters Dorothy “Dottie” Mehmetali and Joan Rossi.

Norma’s family would like to send special thanks to doctors, nurses, and staffs of Waterbury Hospital, Hartford Hospital, the Leever Cancer Center, and Maple View Health and Rehab Center in Rocky Hill for their outstanding care and compassion shown to Norma.
Norma’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 9:30am at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury with a service beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 12:00 – 3:00pm.
