Waterbury, CT - Orlando “Fred” Cornacchio, 91, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully December 12, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital.
Fred was born November 25, 1929 in Stamford, CT, a son of the late Lucian and Elizabeth (Trionfo) Cornacchio and attended Stamford Schools. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marcia (Baxter) Cornacchio whom he met at Boston University School of Music and a son, Ronald Cornacchio. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Coral Sea. He raised his family in Waterbury where he was a Music Teacher at several area grammar schools and Kennedy High School, finishing his career at the North End Middle School in Waterbury.

Fred was an avid golfer who was a member of both the Watertown and Heritage Village Country Clubs. He enjoyed summering at Lake Zoar with his family for many years, playing shuffleboard with Uncle Tommy. He was a great storyteller and always had compassion for young adults. He was a golf coach and enjoyed playing in the Waterbury Fife & Drum band for many years. He enjoyed traveling in his later years, visiting Italy several times. He loved a good glass of wine, gardening and growing his own tomatoes.
Fred leaves his daughter, Lee Cornacchio-Todd of Manasquan, NJ, son, Mark Cornacchio and his wife, Jeanie of Old Saybrook, CT, two grandchildren, Jacqueline Cornacchio and Mark Cornacchio, Jr., long time companion, Pauline Cimaglio of Cheshire and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Frank Cornacchio.
Arrangements: All funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with Fred’s arrangements.
