Paul was born in Waterbury, CT on January 23, 1941, a son of the late Vincenzo and Antoinette (Loiacano) Bianca and was educated in Waterbury Schools. He enlisted and served as a medic on the U.S.S. Essex in the U.S. Navy. As a member of the Navy, Paul enjoyed travelling and seeing the world, including England and Holland, where he bought the diamond he would use to propose to Mary upon his return home.

Before his retirement in 1996, Paul worked as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney. He valued hard work and being a member of a union was a great source of pride to him. Paul enjoyed travelling. He went to Italy, several National Parks and even zip-lined in Haiti. He had a great passion for gardening and, like a true Italian, maintained a meticulous and bountiful garden.
