Pedro Reis Aviz, 85, of Naugatuck, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest and became one of God’s newest angels on July 3, 2024 , surrounded by his loving family.
Pedro was born to Ana Imperatriz dos Reis de Aviz and Ambrosio Teodoro Aviz, on January 10, 1939, in Santa Maria District of Braganca, Brazil. Pedro and his brothers owned a family cattle ranch business. In 1963 Pedro married his wife Maria Rosalia, raised five wonderful children, and were happily married for 61 years.

In 1965 he immigrated to America and became a citizen. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation for 38 years and then retired. Pedro’s favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing, singing, and being an avid Brazilian soccer fan. During World Cup Tournaments family and friends would gather around him as they cheered on another victory. He also found peace among the plants and flowers in his garden.
His love of all things in life was matched only by his love for his family. Predeceased by his parents, Ana and Ambrosio Aviz, brothers Carlos, Antonio, and Francisco das Chagas Reis Aviz, his son Ronaldo, grandson Alexander, and his nephew Nelson.

Pedro’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife, Rosalia: their children, Bernadette Roth and her husband John, Margareth Aviz, Jeanne Aviz, Robert Aviz, his wife, Phengphone Aviz; and nephew, Nei Aviz. Grandchildren Michael Albino, Jacob Aviz, Keili Sullivan, Brooke Roth, Sophia Aviz, Estelle Aviz, and great grand- daughter, Mya Albino.
He will be missed by his sister in law Ruth Silva and Evelyn Carusone and Eileen Silva whom he also considers as his daughters.
His family and friends will forever cherish Pedro’s stories and memories.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery, 1 Cross Street, Naugatuck.
