Obituary: Richard Joseph Alhage, 71, Of Naugatuck

Richard Joseph Alhage, 71, of Naugatuck, passed unexpectedly May 4th, 2024 after a brief illness. He departed this world courageously yet peacefully, surrounded by family.
Richard was born on August 17th, 1952, son of the late Louis and Lillian (Swarm) Alhage, and raised in Danbury, CT. He received his Bachelor's degree in history from Western Connecticut State University. He retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections after two decades, where he served as Correctional Industries Manager.

Richard was an exceptional and upstanding man, instilling in his family the importance of love, equality, integrity, and sacrifice. He was very proud of and devoted to his family, as he loved and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the New York Yankees, New York Giants, New York Knicks, and UConn Huskies.
Richard is survived by his three children, sons Richard AlhageJr. (Alycia Filippone) of Oxford, Daniel Alhage (Jessica Doyle) of Middlebury, and daughter Sarah Carvalho (Richard Carvalho) of Prospect; his beloved former wife and best friend Joan (Carr) Alhage of Prospect; his siblings, Patricia Morgan (Kevin) of Delaware, Barbara Alhage of Maine, Karen Ball of New Milford, Mary Kientz (Terry) of New Jersey, and Louis Alhage(Leigh) of New Milford; and his grandchildren Owen Carvalho, Connor Carvalho, Dillon Carvalho, Anthony Alhage, Rory Alhage, and Kaelan Doyle. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, all of whom he loved and touched deeply.

Funeral services will be held Friday May 10th, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 9th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
