Mr. Richard O. DeRosa, 71, of Waterbury, passed away on Thursday October 18, 2018 at his residence.

Richard was born in Waterbury on May 8, 1947, son of the late Orlando “Dick” and Edith Maria (Marciano) DeRosa. He graduated from Wilby High School and attended the Hartt School of Music in Hartford for 2 years and the Julliard School of Music in NYC. He worked as a musical director for the Academy of Performing Arts for over 30 years. He later directed at Coachlight Theater in Enfield for 10 years and retired from Seven Angel’s Theater in 2013. Richard was a very talented musical director and taught many students piano and voice that later went on to Broadway and Motion Pictures. Richard and Dan Calabrese wrote, produced, and collaborated Musicals including, “Fold Spindle and Mutilate”, “Aches and Pains” and “Mad Bomber”.

Richard is survived by 2 brothers; Randy DeRosa of Waterbury and Robert DeRosa and his wife Joanne of Wolcott, a niece; Melissa DeRosa of Wolcott and a cousin Elaine Martinelli of Waterbury.

Arrangements: At Richard’s request, all services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Brookside Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 200 Benson Road, Middlebury, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
