Obituary for Robert D. Cronin, Ph.D
Robert D. Cronin, Ph.D., spouse of Terry P. Cassidy, Ed.D., died peacefully on December 5th, at St. Francis Hospital. In addition to Dr. Cassidy, Bob leaves his siblings whom he loved dearly: Kathy and Jeff Davey, Colleen and Joseph Cidela, Suzanne and Mark Macary, Sean Cronin and Chris Andresen, Margaret Cronin, and Alton and Kelly Cronin and several special nieces and nephews.
Dr. Cronin had a distinguished career in education, starting as an elementary school teacher in Naugatuck working his way through the teaching and administrative ranks until he was superintendent. Next, he became superintendent of Regional District 14, serving Bethlehem and Woodbury. Finally, he served with pleasure as superintendent of the North Haven public schools, retiring in 2019.

Bob’s family and colleagues loved and revered him for his wit, his generosity of spirit, caring, concern, and respect he had for all.
The private burial will be for the family. A Mass, open to all, will be held on January 11th, 2025, at 10:00am at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford.
