Obituary: Robert J. Cramer Sr., 88, of Bristol

He moved from the UK to the United States in 1963 having lived one year in New Jersey and settled to Waterbury in 1964.

“Loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle”

Robert J. Cramer Sr., 88, of Bristol, formerly a longtime resident of Waterbury, entered into the gates of heaven on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at his home in Bristol. He was the loving husband of the late Doreen C. (Boyle) Cramer.

Robert was born in London, England, on June 21, 1934, son of the late Thomas and Emily (Johnson) Cramer. He was a veteran of the British Army having served in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers active-duty combat against the Mau Mau in Kenya, Africa. He moved from the UK to the United States in 1963 having lived one year in New Jersey and settled to Waterbury in 1964. For many years Robert worked as plant manager in various Swiss screw machine shops until his retirement. He moved to Bristol in his son’s in-law apartment in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and Friday night cards games with his friends.

Robert leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory; his children, Robert J. Cramer Jr. of Bristol, Jayne Richardson of Walkersville, MD, Susan Russel and her husdand Dave, and June Bewers and her husband Paul all of the UK. He also leaves behind a brother, Kenneth Cramer of the UK and his eight grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Jason Cramer and his wife Carrie Bassett of CT, Kimberly Brockey, Christopher Richardson and his wife Rebecca, Amanda Drake and her husband Robert all of MD, Andrew Richardson and his wife Jennifer of PA, Kelly Bewers and Sarah Bewers of the UK, Christopher Cramer and wife Cheryl of the UK, as well as fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Allen Cramer, son-in-law, Wayne Richardson, and a brother, Thomas Cramer. He will be fondly missed by two special and close friends, Tracy Dalton and Ken Seward.

Arrangements: Calling hours with Robert’s cremains present will be held Monday October 3, 2022 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial / The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
