Some of his greatest joys were with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, he adored them, from watching them play and swim at his home, to fond, older memories of his grandchildren. He was very proud of all of them. He was a very proud Grandfather and affectionately known as Bumpa or Bump. In addition to those already named, he leaves behind his sister Bertha Spiess from Winsted, CT. As well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Spiess, sister Shirley Brighenti, sister Jeannette Kulinski, sister Joan Palmer, and his son James Robert Spiess.
His greatest joys were sitting outside on his deck, relaxing in the sun, watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play and swim, and loving their laughter. Although limited by physical abilities, he was always right there with everyone, involved always, with all thing’s family. He was a fierce protector of his family, loyal and kind, and would give a holler when needed. In his words he was the “Head Honcho” and “The Boss, Applesauce!”
