Sharon lived most of her life in Waterbury and formerly worked as a police matron at the Waterbury Police Department for 20 years.

Waterbury, CT - Sharon Giglio, 73, died unexpectedly on April 23, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Sharon was born July 19, 1949 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Carl and Margaret (Johnson) Edquist. Sharon lived most of her life in Waterbury and formerly worked as a police matron at the Waterbury Police Department for 20 years. Sharon was a huge UCONN basketball fan and she enjoyed gardening. Sharon loved nature and animals, especially horses, dogs and birds. The most important part of Sharon’s life was her family and she was all about her grand kids.

Sharon is survived by her daughter and son in law, Kelly and Matt Olander; her son and daughter in law, Patrick and Jodi Giglio; her grandchildren; Elizabeth Olander, Avery Giglio and Carter Giglio; her sisters, Harriet McDaniel and Joann Nocera; her brothers and sisters in law, Carl and Carolyn Edquist, Jr., Robert and Sharon Edquist and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. A funeral service will take place immediately following calling hours. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Unityville, PA.
