Obituary: Shirley Anderson, 90, Of Naugatuck

Shirley Anderson, 90, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Edward S. Anderson Sr.

Mrs. Anderson was born March 3, 1932, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late William and Grace (Pettit) Hayes. She attended local schools and furthered her education at Southern Connecticut State University. She was a lifelong Naugatuck resident where she was a teacher for the Naugatuck Board of Education.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Garden Club and the Historical Society, and her love of traveling took her around the world.

Mrs. Anderson was the caring mother of Tracy A. Penniman and her husband Tom of ME, Christopher Anderson and his partner Nicole Boyd of ME, and Amy Anderson of Naugatuck; her brother Lawrence Hayes and his partner Beverly Boulanger of Naugatuck; and her grandchildren Grace Anderson of California and Ben Anderson of Nevada. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Anderson is predeceased by her son Edward Jr.

Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck, 06770.
