WATERBURY - Shirley Pearl Schoolnick Rabinowitz passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Village Crest Nursing Home in New Milford CT.
She was the widow of Gerald Rabinowitz.

Shirley was born September 23, 1926 in Hartford, CT, the youngest of 6 siblings to Michael and Esther Rose (Sind) Schoolnick. She married Gerald Rabinowitz in 1948, and moved to Waterbury where they lived, worked, and raised three daughters. Shirley worked in nonprofit agencies such as the Pearl Street Neighborhood House, dedicated to enhancing the lives of those in the African-American community surrounding Pearl Street in Waterbury; Health Systems Agency, and more recently at The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, dedicated to supporting senior citizens in a 42 town region.

Left to honor Shirley’s memory and legacy, are her daughters and sons-in law: Marcia Lane of the Bronx, N.Y.; Laurie and Randy Noe of Bethel, CT; Amy and Winthrop Bissell of New Britain, CT; her only grandchild, Erica Noe of Bethel, CT; her sister-i-in-law, Natalie Rapoport and sister-in-love, Rose Silverman and many, many niece , nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

In keeping with her Jewish traditions Shirley was laid to eternal rest next to her husband Gerald in Star Lodge Cemetery on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 before sundown. To honor Shirley’s wonderful memory donations may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice in her name.
