Obituary: Vincenza (Pilaro) Cannizzo, 94, of Naugatuck

She was a member of the Naugatuck Women's Club, Naugatuck Senior Center, and volunteered at the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank.

Naugatuck-Vincenza (Pilaro)Cannizzo, age 94, widow of Francis “Frank” Cannizzo, passed away on Saturday December 17, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Innovative Care Unit.


Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Ficalaro) Pilaro. Vincenza lived at the Village at East Farms in Waterbury, where she had many friends and enjoyed the activities. She was a member of the Naugatuck Women’s Club, Naugatuck Senior Center, and volunteered at the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank. For many years, she worked at Naugatuck Glass Company.


She is survived by her children, Rose-Ann (Cannizzo) Chrzanowski, Joseph Cannizzo, and Dr. Frank Cannizzo and his wife Susan; her eight grandchildren, Karen (Chrzanowski) Kuczenski and her husband Shawn, Sean Cannizzo and his wife Vanessa, Katie Cannizzo, Tricia Hegerty and her husband Matt, Taiyo and Claire Cannizzo, and Hannah and Sam Cannizzo; her great grandsons Brandon Kuczenski and his wife Brittany, and Tyler Kuczenski; her great grandson Carter Hegarty; her great grandaughters Madeline Hegarty and Saoirse Cannizzo; her great- great granddaughter Bria Kuczenski; her brother Dr. Joseph Pilaro; her sister Frances Lisi Hees; her daughter in law Pamela Ito; and several nieces and nephews. Vincenza was predeceased by her son John Cannizzo and her son in law Ray Chrzanowski.

Her funeral will be held on Monday December 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
