Obituary: William “Willie” N. Crespo, 61, of Waterbury

He was a graduate of Wilby High School and worked numerous jobs until becoming disabled. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and working on cars.

Loving Father and Brother


William “Willie” N. Crespo, age 61, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, May 13, 2024 in his home.

Born on October 25, 1962, in Meriden, Willie was the son of the late Santos and Pura (Nieves) Crespo, Sr. He was a graduate of Wilby High School and worked numerous jobs until becoming disabled. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and working on cars. A big football and baseball fan, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboy and NY Yankee games. He loved poker nights with family and friends, playing handball and spending time at Lakewood Park.

William is survived by his son Matthew Crespo and his wife Akeemia; his granddaughter Camilla Crespo; and his longtime companion Deborah Affhauser. He also leaves his brothers Cornelio “Neil” Crespo and his wife Diane, Abraham Crespo and his wife Ana, Ricky Nelson Crespo and his wife Julissa; and his sisters Iris Rivera and her husband Juan, Elsa Claudio, Venera Crespo and her husband Rafael, Julie Plaza and her husband Wilfredo, and Aida Luz Trauger and her husband Lloyd as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Luis Rivera and Santos Crespo, Jr.

Willie’s funeral will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 9:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury to the Shrine of St. Anne’s, 515 S. Main St., Waterbury for a Mass at 10:00am. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00pm.
