Officer Injured During Shoplifting Incident: Naugatuck PD
The officer sustained minor injuries while chasing down the accused shoplifter, police said.
NAUGATUCK, CT β A Waterbury man was arrested after he shoplifted from Walmart and injured an officer, according to police.
Police were sent to the store July 26 and were told by loss prevention that a man stole more than $600 worth of goods.
Loss prevention and an officer approached the man and he fled the scene, police said. An officer gave chase and sustained a minor injury during the apprehension.

Matthew Iwanow, 36, of Waterbury was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with police and 5th-degree larceny.
