HARTFORD, CT, March 5, 2024 – The Bushnell announced today that three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone will bring her new concert Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes to The Bushnell for one performance on Sunday, May 19 at 3 PM.

Tickets will go on sale at 10:00 AM Friday, March 8, and will be available at bushnell.org, by calling (860) 987-5900 or by visiting The Bushnell Box Office at
166 Capital Avenue (Mon-Fri from 10 AM to 5 PM).

Music has the power to crystallize a moment in time and evoke eras, in her
new concert Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes, the three-time Tony Award winner will perform an array of songs that do just that, songs that are touchstones and reflections on her life growing up in America – as a young girl during the burgeoning rock and roll scene of the fifties, to coming of age in the politically and socially turbulent sixties, to eventually achieving success with both career and family.

Conceived and directed by Scott Wittman, with music supervision and direction by Joseph Thalken, written by Jeffrey Richman, with string instrumentalist Brad Phillips, this multi-city tour will also include a one-night-only performance at Carnegie Hall on Monday, April 8 and additional engagements including Boston’s Symphony Hall, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco (Sunday, April 14), the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C..

Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes features lighting design by John Hastings, sound design by Mark Fiore, and costume design by Catherine Zuber. Richard Hester is the Production Supervisor.

SCOTT WITTMAN (Conceiver/Director) is a Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Award-winning lyricist and director. His Broadway credits include Hairspray, Catch Me If
You Can, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, which he also directed, Charlie &the Chocolate Factory and Some Like It Hot. His television and streaming credits include Smash (Golden Globe, Grammy, and Emmy Award nominations) and the Rogers: The Musical episode of the Disney+ Marvel series Hawkeye. He was an Oscar nominee for his song The Place Were Lost Things Go” from the film Mary Poppins Returns. Mr. Wittman has directed Christine Ebersole, Nathan Lane and Bette Midler in concert as well as Jukebox Jackie starring Justin Vivian Bond and Cole Escola at La Mama and Bridget Everett’s Rock Bottom at the Public. On Broadway, he directed Patti LuPone on Broadway as well as her concert Matters of
the Heart at Lincoln Center Theater. His 80's Downtown shows are in the permanent collection of MOMA. His upcoming projects include the Broadway musical Smash, scheduled to open in Spring ’25.

JOSEPH THALKEN (Music Direction and Arrangements) is an award-winning composer, conductor, and pianist whose theater and concert works have been performed internationally. He is the composer of the musicals Was, Harold and Maude, Fall of ’94, Borrowed Dust and Inventions for Piano, and his concert works encompass chamber, choral, orchestral, wind ensemble and vocal music. His ballet, Chasing Home, was recently recorded by the Dallas Chamber Symphony and will be released later this year. In addition to Patti LuPone, he has served as music director and/or arranger for luminaries of Broadway and classical music, including Julie Andrews, Liza Minnelli, Bernadette Peters, Renée Fleming, Rebecca Luker, Marin Mazzie, Liz Callaway, Sierra Boggess, Catherine Malfitano, Elizabeth Futral, Kristin Chenoweth, Sally Wilfert, Polly Bergen, Faith Prince, Hugh Panaro,
Michael Crawford, Howard McGillin, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, Rodney Gilfry,
Brian Stokes Mitchell and many more. He has taught music theatre composition at Yale and is a proud graduate of Northwestern University.

JEFFREY RICHMAN (Writer) is currently the Co-Creator and Executive Producer of
the Showtime series “Uncoupled” starring Neil Patrick Harris. Prior to that, he was an Executive Producer of “Modern Family” for ten seasons, earning five Emmy Awards (including one for Outstanding Script), three Writers Guild Awards, three Producers Guild Awards, and a Golden Globe for Best Comedy. He has served as Executive or Co-Executive Producer on “Wings”, “Frasier” (another Emmy Award for Best Comedy), “Stark Raving Mad”, “Charlie Lawrence” (Creator), “Jake in Progress”, “Stacked”, “Rules of Engagement”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Back to You.” He also received an Emmy nomination for
writing the 82nd Annual Academy Awards with hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.

BRAD PHILLIPS (String Instrumentalist) “Sideman to the Stars,” having worked with Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Pat Metheny, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Verve Pipe, Grammy winner Mark O’Connor and countless singer-songwriters and artists from the Great Lakes Region. He is known for his long-standing musical collaborations with Emmy Award winning actor/singer/songwriter and fellow Michigander, Jeff Daniels. Brad holds a BFA in Jazz Studies and a MM in Improvisation from the University of Michigan where he serves as a lecturer in the department of Jazz & Contemporary Improvisation. A composer, arranger, musical director, singer-songwriter, record producer, theatrical sound designer, actor and multi-instrumentalist, he also serves as a resident artist at Daniels’ Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, MI where he has contributed to more than 25 plays in various creative capacities. His experiences on the road and collaborations with artists he has encountered inform his career as a recording artist and his solo shows. Most recently, Tales of a Midwestern Sideman provides a light-hearted, thoughtful and moving evening of storytelling and music.
